Our babies are unique and we love as mums to hold our bundle of joys. Baby carriers have been in use from time in memorial, we African have our special baby carriers which many might think inferior but I have come to love so much.
This is one encounter that made me love our African baby carrier. When my Nephew was a new-born just a months old, my elder sister went to clinic with him. On her way back, she tripped on a tree trump and fell. she was so badly injured. Her knees, foot, elbow and lips were bruised but guess what? Her son had no scratch because he was snuggled with our African wrapper carrier on her back, sleeping peacefully.
That thought me how safe the Africa wrapping carrier is and that is why it is my best method for carrying a baby. The best about this is, the baby is comfortable on mummy’s back, cozy and snuggling to mum’s warmth, while mum’s hands are free to do what ever household chores that need taken care of.
When I relocated to the western world, my son was still a baby, I moved around everywhere with him on my back. Our first winter, my son felt so cozy and warm on my back. He sleeps just off. I found it creates a sort of bound between mum and child.
Whatever carrier method we choose think of baby safety first and also warmth is important in this means of bounding with our kids as a baby.
