I woke up to receive the attachment below in my WhatsApp in box chat this morning. As usually I almost trashed as the normal from one friend to another circulating content but on a second thought, I read it and for almost 30 minutes I sat glued feeling so so sad for my mothers land- our great country Nigeria.
Then as I continued all day with my chores and job, I pondered on this post. I recall along time statement of an Uncle (my dad’s cousin) which was more a rhetorical question and statement). Each time a discussion that about a tight situation comes up, he would always ask “who will bell the cat?, I am very sorry my living” he always concludes.
To us as kids then, it was always very funny but today as I tried to ponder on this it is indeed what came to my mind.
Who will bell the cat indeed? Who is going to hold the corrupt government liable for this daylight robbery against our country and people. Me, you or you or the poor masses? Who is able to question or ask where $160 million USD made every day from the Niger Delta goes, while many are dying of poverty and our youths are forced to embark on this deadly journey of survival.
Shame on who? Shame on the poor and innocent citizens who do not have a say or can not have any one to fight for them? Is it shame on the youth who wants to survive by struggling and taking risk to go on this journeys or shame on the leaders who are the architect of these miseries on the people. Shame on those who think they can embezzle the wealth of Nigeria for themselves and their families, for like Solomon said “all is Vanity upon Vanity.”
Is the the youths that is to blame? Buhari have been to UK many times wasting the wealth of Nigeria and embezzling more than his predecessors that he called corrupt but what has Britain done to help stop him from taking our fund there. He has gone to collect loan from China amidst all that is made daily, who is saying anything?
Nigerians are at the mercy of God, and we hope deliverance comes. For it shall be like in the case of the Israelites in Egypt. God would surely deliver, for His message to Buhari is same “Let my people go” Yes! our land flows with milk and honey and we shall eat the friut of our labour. For there shall arise a leader that would bell the cat soon, watch it will come to pass.
