Everyday, I love like everyone to have a glance on what is trending for the day on social media and one of my port of call is Face-book. Well! like everyone who is on this social media platform it is either the good, the bad or the ugly. The ugly is more than the bad and the good most times coming from my Africa, which makes me cringe most times.
In today’s world, I have seen that there is no longer conscience or integrity. These words do not exist any more or they died a long time ago, so what are people living with one may ask? Just nothing, we float with society and what is in vogue but in the mist of all that is wrong, thank God there is still some good and some one shocked me from my very own Africa, Nigeria to be precise that all hopes is not dead. That there is still a little fraction of humanity or those with conscience in that society.
I salute the courage and the life of the man the immediate past commissioner for Urban planning in River State Nigeria where the collapse of a building led to his resignation from what many would term a juicy position. In this modern time and the greed that have perverted our society, the power tussle and being power drunk that many hold unto power and do not like relishing it. This man tasted power and an incident makes him resign?
Hmmmm! this is a first since this democracy got so crazy in Nigeria. No one gets a taste that ever thinks of others, immediately they step into office, the little conscience they ever had is seared with a burning coal and swift goes all their feelings for the poor masses whose interest they are suppose to protect.
This man, I think your name indeed speaks in your life as they say in Africa. Indeed you are a man that “Reason” and that reason is why I salute your bravery and your courage to step down from a position that is juicy but yet not juicy enough for the mistake that led to the death of many in the collapse building.
God in heaven would bless you for this, you are in first in history of our country for a long time and a great example that in the mist of so many bad eggs there are still some good ones left like you. A young vibrant gentleman of honour, and today I feel proud that you deserve an accolade from the nation and the world at large indeed. Well done reason, more grease to your elbow and more grace to you. More doors will open for you for this show of conscience and integrity.
