Many Africans like me, living in diaspora can attest to how the Christmas celebration can be boring as compared to back home. Its you and your household to your tent. I know most times Africans have parties during the season but on the actual day its a different story everyone is at home, except one decides to visit other families or friends.
Well! as for yours truly, I was bored the first year but for the past three years running now I have been blessed with an extended family that any one would want to have in this part of the world. And every Christmas going to the fourth year now, these wonderful addition to my family would come with their friends in the late afternoon running till about ten to eleven in the night.
Its not the food but the love, the talk time, the laughter, the joy, the arguments and the many hilarious remarks. Talks about our home land and all makes the day a glorious one with them. It is a time I cherish with all my heart. These ones are not just part of my Christmas alone but have become my family but every day and time to come to visit.
The first Christmas, first it was my friend(Dorcas) who is like a younger sister who came in. Followed by the Hassan Useni, Tony Ochuko and their crew. It was a full house we had fun eating, talking laughing, and cracking jokes. My neighbour then had to call the cops on us that 25th of December. When the cops rang my bell and saw that we were eating and joking, no alcohol to portray drunkenness, they apologized and left.
This Christmas, since job have taken them a bit further from where I live I was not sure if they would make it but of course I was wrong. They came in yesterday with friends and we all had a swell time.
I want to say a big thank you to these young men who have become part of my family, like my son calls them, “I would say thank you Uncle Choko and Uncle San, You guys are great” And to others Daniel, Mudi thanks for coming .
To the wonderful young ladies Jaymie, Yaye, and Fatih, you were so wonderful and remember, our home is an African home. No one seek permission before visiting. We hope to see you soon. I am proud to say i still enjoy a large family gathering sharing lover and fun in this season in the Western world
