In about 72 hours from now, 2018 would be coming to an end and it would be the beginning of a new year 2019. Everyone is looking forward to it with great anticipation, preparation or resolutions but which ever one it is we are doing, the most important is having life first and foremost.
Many have started making great plans for the new year, while others are getting rid of what the term as garbage that won’t go into the new year with them. Garbage or no garbage, resolution no resolution, 2019 will surely knock on the door in three days time and there is no going back. Like it is said in an African adage “the frog only jumps forward, it never goes backward” and so it is with the years.
Each year comes and goes, never to repeat again in this life-time, so why not make the most of what we have each year. I say instead of resolutions that end up not being kept, I suggest gathering the pieces of all that have been done or not done for the year. Is it failed relationships or businesses? Is it attaining a height in career or breaking a habit? Knowing what it is and recognizing why it didn’t go well for the year to me is the first step, which I have termed the gathering stage.
Next is the taking stock stage, why did it fail or not go well? Is there a reason for its failure or success or is there still hope to make amends for the coming year? I also term this as the which way next or forward stage. Once the way forward is identified, then it is easy to plan.
For me, my planning involves being grateful first that I am alive in the land of the living. Yes! being alive give room to dreams, seeing the new year in good health will build hope to achievements. May this be our steps into 2019.
