I was standing at the bus stop that early morning, out of the sides of my eyes I caught the first glimpse of this squirrel. I turn towards it in reflex action and as I watched. I was so amazed at what the tiny animal was up to, that morning.
It was trying to cross to the other side of the road but each time it goes forward, it notices the beams of a car head lights it retreats back. Hmmm! interesting. I told myself as I focus my attention on it.
Something unique struck me, the little one was in no hurry to go across, a peep the lights and backward it goes. Why? I wondered but all I could really see was it was taking its time and just when my attention was going to shift from it, I noticed it going across but not running fast like one would expect but walking leisurely across.
And guess what? There was no car coming on both sides of the road till it got to the across. Voila! I said to myself, as it disappeared. What a scene but it dawn on me standing there what I just saw.
It was a lesson of life, not just a squirrel going across the road but “Patience” a paying virtue that many do not have. It is a hard thing for us this generation to acquire because we live in a fast pace era and known is ready to be patient.
Everyone is in a hurry to get it done or move on, to the extent of everything now has taken that same leaping forward spirit but we need to learn to covert this virtue so that it gains can be enjoyed by us.
